Welcome — I’m so glad you’re here.

Arlene Best

My love of colour has always been at the heart of everything I do. From fabrics and fashion to interiors and now painting, colour has been my constant source of joy and expression.

My creative journey began in Toronto’s fashion and modelling world, where I trained and later managed International Top Models Schools. That chapter led me to Paris and New York City — places that shaped my eye for beauty, movement, and design. Eventually, my path brought me to Stratford, Ontario, where my husband, actor Wayne Best, and I built our home and raised our family.

In Stratford, my creativity found new forms through Ar Works and Arlene Best Interiors, where I poured my love of texture and tone into faux finishes, murals, floorcloths, and custom design. Many of those creations found homes in the spaces of wonderful clients who became dear friends — and for that, I am forever grateful.

Over time, I felt a pull to return to painting — not as a service or project, but as a personal sanctuary. During the quiet of the pandemic, I began exploring acrylics and fluid art, drawn to the movement, chemistry, and emotion of paint as it flows and collides on canvas. The process reminded me to embrace both control and surrender — to find peace in the unexpected.

Today, painting allows me to reconnect with the freedom and play that first inspired me as a young artist. I’m captivated by how colour transforms with light, how layers reveal emotion, and how abstract forms can speak more truthfully than words.

Interior design will always be part of who I am, but painting has become my purest form of expression — a space where I can simply be, immersed in colour and creation.

Thank you for visiting, and for allowing me to share my work and this new chapter of my artistic journey with you.
